Robert E. Zeck

Robert Edmund Joseph Szczech born July 2, 1913, in Minneapolis, MN died February 21, 2008 in Salem AR. 

Bob, as he was known, was a retired lawyer, he was a graduate of De La Salle High School, Minneapolis, MN and a graduate of William Mitchell College of Law, St. Paul, MN.  Bob practiced law in Minnesota until his retirement in 1978, when he moved to Cherokee Village, Arkansas.  He also practiced for a short time while in AR.

He married Mary M. Bachler on July 3 1933, in Minneapolis.  She died on Dec. 20, 1991.  There were born unto this marriage 4 daughters and 3 sons: Barbara Ann Murphy (Russell) of Chaska, MN; Janice Carol McCarthy of Green Bay, WI; Gerald Anthony Zeck (Pamela) of Sarasota, FL; Gregory Robert Zeck (Jennifer) of Richfield, MN; Kathleen Mary Corey of St. Paul, MN; Jeanne Marie Zeck (partner Mark Vincent) of Jacksonville, IL and Robert Michael Zeck, who died in June 1995.

Robert is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

On April 8, 1995 he married Louise R. Nichols of Cherokee Village, they moved to Horseshoe Bend one month later.

Bob was always involved in Church activities wherever he lived.  In Minneapolis, he was also active in the Lyn – Lake Lions Club for ten years.  In Cherokee Village and Horseshoe Bend he belonged to the Kiwanis Club.  In addition, he and Mary were actively involved in the Pro-Life movement for many years.  They both worked with Fran Hayes when she started the Alpha Pregnancy Problem Center of Batesville.  Bob joined the Knights of Columbus in 1952 and held many offices in local councils and in the Fourth Degree Assembly.

A Mass for Bob will be held on Wednesday February 27, 2008 at 9:00Am, at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bend with Father Venantius Preske officiating.  A memorial service will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Cherokee Village at a later date.
